Manchester United v Liverpool (Prediction 2-1)
What a game to kick the weekend off with!
Manchester United are given an opportunity to put some daylight between themselves and Liverpool in the Premier League table, whilst Liverpool will attempt to overtake United in what is being referred to as the ‘silver battle’ with second place all to play for. Should Liverpool lose, Spurs could take third place with a win at Bournemouth on Sunday.
Focusing on this game though, the last four meetings in all competitions have been low-scoring draws. United dominated in the league games prior to that, managing four consecutive wins, home and away.
United arrive in healthy mood after two consecutive comeback league wins over Chelsea and Crystal Palace in a classic on Monday night that saw Nemanja Matic fire home his first goal for the club and what a goal it was! Liverpool are on a strong run.
I’m not sure that Klopp was right to use his front three in midweek and that decision could prove costly. It won’t be decisive though, I’m confident United will win this game, especially with home advantage.
Everton v Brighton (Prediction 1-1)
Everton are on another poor run, especially abysmal away from home, but today’s game fortunately for them is at home and they do tend to step up a little for these games.
I think Brighton who are in fine form themselves will be very happy with taking a point at Goodison Park.
Huddersfield v Swansea (Prediction 1-1)
Another draw that perhaps both teams will take with the relegation battle wide open. I think this will be one of those games that both sides will go home thinking they could have taken all three points.
Newcastle v Southampton (Prediction 1-0)
A huge game in the relegation battle with both hanging above the drop zone. I think Benitez’s Newcastle will come up trumps in this one, but only just.
Mauricio Pellegrino needs results and fast though, they’re more likely to come when the Saints are at home, depending on the fixtures of course.
West Brom v Leicester (Prediction 0-2)
As mentioned in previous weekends, I can no longer predict West Brom to win.
They are going down. (This of course means they’ll win tomorrow). Leicester are desperate for a win and this is the ideal opportunity.
West Ham v Burnley (Prediction 2-1)
Burnley managed to pull off a home win last weekend, all be it against Everton, who are hopeless when playing away from home.
West Ham were hammered by Swansea and they’ll be out to put that right this time out and avoid slipping back into the drop zone like Crystal Palace have done.
Chelsea v Crystal Palace (Prediction 3-0)
An easy win for the Blues here as Palace to take yet another knock as they fight to get out of the drop zone.
Other games will matter more to Roy Hodgson’s side when all is said and done.
Thanks for reading!
