Saturday was not the greatest day for my predictions, zero correct scores and the correct match results came from Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City.
Only two fixtures left, let’s make it two correct scores?
Sun – Southampton v Tottenham (Prediction 0-3)
I wouldn’t be entirely surprised if this was Mauricio Pellegrino’s last game in charge of the Saints, they’re now in the relegation zone and haven’t won a Premier League game since November.
They threw away a 2-0 lead at Watford last weekend and are still likely to be without striker Charlie Austin. They lost the reverse fixture of this game 5-2 at Wembley, that itself proof of Spurs’ demolition capabilities.
Tottenham have picked up some fine form and I think they’ve got themselves in position to be considered almost certainties to finish in the top four come the end of the season and should win this with relative ease.
Mon – Swansea v Liverpool (Prediction 1-2)
I just can’t see a Swansea win here, they are more likely now than when Paul Clement was in charge but Liverpool are on fearsome form, even before ending Manchester City’s unbeaten league run last Sunday.
Saying that, it is such a Liverpool thing to do, beat City and find a way not to take all three points from the Liberty Stadium on Monday night. Still, I believe they’ll win this one, without it being as easy as the 5-0 win over the Swans at Anfield in December.
If I’m indeed right and both Spurs and Liverpool win in the remaining matchday 24 fixtures, all the top six teams in the Premier League will have won this weekend. I guess you could make that seven and include Leicester after their 2-0 win over Watford today.
It can’t happen, can it? Surely it isn’t that easy?!
