Champ of the Match: Petr Jiracek

Czech’s hero tonight! Has been consistently brilliant throughout Euro 2012, but excelled tonight. Worked hard all match, creating chances at a dozen during the match. Came alive in the second half, being relied upon for the Czech as “go to” player.

His goal came in the 72nd minute after another Czech attack, the ball was knocked through to him, and he simply set himself up and rolled the ball into the net. Czech Republic will never forget this man.

Chump of the Match: Jakub Blaszczykowski

Taken from Yahoo Sports

Brilliant against Russia, but was unseen tonight in the second half, as Poland crashed out. With the game goalless going into the second half, Poland needed to score to qualify, so they turned to their creative players Obrainik and Blaszczykowski, who both under-performed.

It would be incredibly harsh to say Blaszczykowski was the reason for Poland not qualifying but he was poor when needed. Missed a vital chance in the 90th minute, when a crisp shot was headed away from the goal. Unlucky, but not good enough.

Referee: Craig Thomson

Scottish referee, quiet game. Nothing to report.

Tweets of the Match

No tweets tonight, none worthy of going in. Sorry.

What to expect next for Czech Republic and Greece

Czech Republic did excellently to qualify as group winners, but it will depend on who finishes second in Group B to determine how they are likely to perform.

As for Greece, they have to improve their leaky defence, for me, I don’t believe they can beat whoever they play in the quarter finals.
