Euro 2012: Match Report- Spain vs Portugal

Portugal 0-0 Spain: Spain win 4-2 on penalties

Line Ups

Champ of the Match: Joao Moutinho

Taken from Bleacher Report

Excellent all night for Moutinho, who covered the entire pitch. Passing skills were fantastic, and what was surprising was seeing how brilliant he was at making vital tackles.

The unlucky factor for him was that Portugal crashed out on penalties, with Moutinho missing a penalty. Linked with Chelsea domestically, and with performances like this one, it’s clear to see why.

Chump of the Match: Cristiano Ronaldo

Taken from Football 365

Was contained for the majority of the game, creating few chances. But the real crime was the fact Ronaldo didn’t take a penalty, he wanted to take the decider or saver penalty, but it never came around as Bruno Alves missed a penalty leaving Spain to step up and win it.

Didn’t play awful, but he should’ve took a penalty, and you never know, things may have been different for Portugal.

The referee had a good game, making no real bad decisions. As for Tweets of the Night, because I am doing this a day later, their isn’t a Tweets of the Night section. Sorry.

What’s next for Spain

Spain are dominant once again, reaching another major final. With their fellow finalists not known yet, it is hard to predict how Spain will do, as they did just squeeze through against Portugal, and weren’t rampant against Italy.
