England 1-0 Ukraine: (Rooney 48′)
Champ of the Match: Steven Gerrard

Picked up his second assist of the tournament for the only goal of this game. Worked hard, and looked a proud England captain when Rooney scored his goal, early in the second half.
In the first half, he nearly linked up with Rooney, he whipped in an in-swinging free kick, with Rooney inches away from the header, which was sure to be making the net bulge.
His assist come about a few minutes into the second half, after a failed corner fell into his path on the right flank, he beat one man, and fizzles a cross across the six yard box, it flicked off a Ukrainian defender, then bouncing off the keeper to the head of Rooney. Great game captain!
Chump of the Match: Andriy Pyatov

Looked shaky all game long, and it was hardly surprising that England’s goal came from a mistake from the keeper. From the off he looked nervy, and his first real worrying moment came when England had a free kick, it came towards the keeper who flapped at it resulting in an England corner.
Awfully, England’s goal came from a mistake just into the second half. Gerrard attacked from the right, fizzled a ball in, which took the faintest on nicks, and he gifted Rooney an easy goal. Shameful.
Referee: Viktor Kassai

Worst decision of the tournament. In need of goal line technology. Ukraine had a perfectly good goal ruled out which crossed the line. Not the referee, linesmen or the man behind the goal could determine that it was a goal.
It’s a shame for Ukraine. But thankfully had the goal counted, it wouldn’t have affected whether Ukraine would qualify or not.
What next for England and France
England did the unthinkable tonight. They finished top of the group, after France lost to Sweden 2-0. England face Italy, who look extremely tough. An amazing performance must be in order to see England beat Italy.
As for France, they need to forget Sweden, and focus on Spain. World Champions Spain. No pressure.
