Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder has been given 24 hours to decide his future. Inter have accepted an offer from Galatasary for the 28 year old Dutch midfielder and personal negotiations are ongoing.
“Galatasary’s offer satisfies us. Now it depends on the player. We would be happy if he decided to stay on our terms,” Inter Milan’s president Massimo Moratti said.
Although leading the chase for his signature, it is said Sneijder is holding out for a big team in Europe. However, Galatasaray director Bulent Tulun seems confident of getting their man.
‘Sneijder will give us a response inside 24 hours, but in 99 per cent of these cases the transfer negotiations are already done.’
Manchester United have been strongly linked with a move for Sneijder in the past but it seems likely the former Real Madrid man will make a switch to Turkey. The bid is reported to be around £8.2million; a £27million cut from his price tag last summer.
Sneijder has had a successful spell at Inter winning six major tournaments and was part of the treble winning team under Jose Mourinho back in 2009. However, a dip in form and refusal to accept a £2 million wage cut has seen the Dutch international make a mere 6 appearances this season.
For many, this move is peculiar. A man of Sneijder’s quality to be going so cheaply and without a many clubs igniting genuine interest.
Sneijder is one of the most technically gifted footballers in Europe and for Inter Milan to willingly sell him well below his price tag, any team, any team would be lucky to have such a player, and if Galatasary sign Sneijder it will be a massive boost for the club and its fans.
