Celtic have to recruit for next season’s champions league this January

Celtic have not been too busy in this January transfer market. Only two players have joined the club and both will not be available to play any time soon. The Hoops sign RB Leipzig defender, Marvin Compper but he has been ruled out due to a calf problem that is set to see him stay on the side lien for at least a month.

The other player who joined is joined from RB Leipzig, but the 32-year-old has been ruled out for up to a month with a calf complaint. The other player is St Mirren’s Lewis Morgan who have has been loaned back to the club till end of the season. So this means that Celtic have invariably added any player to their squad, at least for now.

Going forward, Celtic is almost certain to win the league and also have a very good shot at the Scottish cup who have they will be playing Patrick Thistle in the fifth round. This means that plans for a tournament they want to improve on and they have not been doing well have to start now.

Part of the steps to doing that is signing players who have experience in such competition.  A European presence is what Celtic craves for right now. Going abroad to scout players who can help improve their constant champions league group stages exist should be paramount on Rodgers and his management mind.

Celtic is a big club and should be in big competition like the European tournaments even if it’s the Europa league. So keeping players like Moussa Dembele and signing players abroad can help improve their constant group phase exit in the champions league.

A third place finish in the group will give them an option to move to the round of 32 in the Europa league which is not a bad idea. So buying players that suit the atmosphere is just what has to happen and it has to start in January before the play off in June.
