Celtic boss, Brendan Rodgers have confirmed that Celtic have rejected a bid for their want away striker, Moussa Dembele. The 21-year-old have been the subject of speculations around a transfer move away from Celtic.
With Rodgers reiterating that Dembele will not be leaving this January, it will have to take an extraordinary bid to make Celtic change their mind. Rodgers however did not state the club in which bid was rejected but it’s most likely a club from the English premier league.
There is also the new twist by Rodgers claiming that Dembele is “fully committed” to the club which was a complete shift from what the situation had been since report has earlier suggested that interest was coming from clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea.
Also claiming that the french man has not at any point in time stated that he want to leave is also a point to note. Celtic has the bargaining power as his contract expires in 2020. The transfer speculations around him have however made him not start a game for the Hoops in their last two matches.
Dembele joined Celtic from Fulham in 2016 and has proven himself to be a good player which will excel anywhere and any club in the world. His 40 goals in 70 club appearance speak volume of itself.
He was instrumental in Celtic unbeaten run last season but has only scored 8 goals this term. So the talk of him not being settled due to the transfer links is not farfetched.
If the talks of Rodgers are to be believed, then what is left is to reintegrate him back into the team and make his heart settle down once more. His qualities are undoubted but he just needs to get himself back and return to the form that everyone saw last season.
