Arsenal have been having a dull transfer window as they don’t seem to attract any top names to the club and are mostly seen to lose out on players to other teams.

In recent news, Arsene Wenger missed out on prolific striker Wissam Ben Yedder as the player decided to ditch the English side and opt for Europa League winners Sevilla FC instead.

Ben Yedder finalized a switch to Sevilla as Jorge Sampaoli’s side had to let go of inform striker Kevin Gameiro after Atletico Madrid came calling for his services and a deal worth €32 million with add-ons was accepted.

Prolific

Wissam signed at the Pizjuan Stadium after the French international grabbed headlines as the forward scored 17 goals in 35 Ligue 1 appearances last season.

Keeping aside the price tag, Ben Yedder is going to be very influential for the Spanish side as he scored 22 goals in total last season for Toulouse, one fewer than Alexandre Lacazette.

Toulouse manager Pascal Dupraz confirmed that his former player had interest from Arsenal, but Wissam chose to sign for Sevilla.

When talking to Seville daily ESTADIO, Dupraz said: “He could have gone to Arsenal, who are one of the best. But Sevilla are also a big club and I think La Liga is perfect for him, because he is a technical player and very attacking.”

Arsenal gave up on Ben Yedder, also having their bids rejected by Jamie Vardy and Alexandre Lacazette.

On his move to Sevilla, the 25 year old striker told AS: “I know Sevilla is a great club, fighting for all the trophies they play for. I come to replace a player very important to the hearts of the Sevilla fans, Kevin Gameiro, and it’s not going to be easy. It was the best choice for me, to come to Sevilla, despite having offers from other teams.”

Adequate replacement for Gameiro

Sevilla have wasted no time in replacing their top striker Kevin Gameiro.

With the arrival of Wissam Ben Yedder and with the experience that he has, he can continue the tradition to be a massive hit in La Liga with even bigger clubs being interested in his signature over the coming years.

With over 60 goals in his time at the Ligue 1, Wissam should have a decent impact in his first season.
