Chelsea are set to pounce on Arsenal’s idleness and snatch the signature of Ricardo Rodriguez.

The Sun are reporting that Chelsea representatives have already spoken to the left-back and that boss Antonio Conte is prepared to launch a £21 million bid.

With Marcos Alonso impressing under Conte this season, it appears Conte is looking to bring Rodriguez in as cover.

The 24 year-old has been a key component at Wolfsburg, making 150 appearances for the German outfit since his arrival in 2012 and would come with a wealth of experience, both domestically and internationally.

Arsene left to rue idleness

Arsene Wenger had been monitoring the Swiss player’s situation with keen interest, but is restricted in what he can offer; reports suggest that he would have to release Kieran Gibbs before he could bring in Rodriguez.

Once again, Arsenal’s prude transfer policy could translate into missed chances.

Football hipsters will be rejoicing at the news, too – Rodriguez’s well-groomed man-bun could bouncing up and down on television screens within a month.
