Arsene Wenger is set to uncharacteristically splash the cash in the January transfer window. Real Madrid midfielder Isco tops the Arsenal manager’s wish-list.

Perfect fit?

Wenger has been a long-term admirer of the attacking midfielder and has chased his signature before he left Malaga for Madrid.

Isco’s flair going forward, coupled with his acute passing mean he would seamlessly integrate into the Arsenal set-up.

With Santi Cazorla out recovering from injury for a minimum of three months, Wenger is desperately seeking a replacement.

Failure to do so would damage their title challenge.

Replacement, or sign of ambition?

Couple this with the growing unrest among Arsenal’s star players, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, Wenger needs to bring in another marquee signing.

As reported by O-Posts, Ozil and Sanchez have both been linked with a move away from the Emirates – Wenger will look to Isco to both reassure his star players on the ambition of the club and to act as a safety in case either player bids farewell to London.

It has been reported that Isco would be available for around £40-50 million.
