How this emerging fan-favorite can help Liverpool lift the title

Had the Premier League been a six-month affair, Liverpool would have been done and dusted before the year’s turn. That’s without even tasting defeat.

England’s elite division is no sprint, however. It is a marathon. Only the brave and smart cross the finish line.  Jurgen Klopp flaunts a formidable squad capable of holding on to their lead at the top, though. Saturday’s slim victory over Brighton further improves their chances of a first elite title.

However, fatigue and injury may soon creep in, which may ultimately see them slump when least expected when again. For that not to happen, Klopp should be reaching out for his wallets.

Trabzonspor’s Abdulkadir Omur could just be that catalyst to sustain the momentum.  Christened the ‘Turkish Messi’, he is rated as a hot prospect in his homeland.

That potential is already being heeded elsewhere, with Anfield one of several possible landing spots to have been mooted. Omur is a versatile midfielder, who’s been used in a number of positions at Trabzonspor.

The 19-year-old is a left or right-sided midfielder but prefers to slot on the right.Despite playing on the right though, Omur is left-footed and has a tendency to cut inside as a result.

At 5ft 6ins, he doesn’t possess the requisite physical frame of a Premier League midfielder. However, he makes up for that with his exceptional skillset. Omur can ghost pass defenders quite seamlessly with his remarkable pace, trickery and guile.

Liverpool needs an extra man in midfield to be able to lift the title, especially with Nabil Keita still struggling to adjust to English football. The Reds lack a natural left-footer in the middle of the park.

With the Turkish youngster in their ranks, Klopp could just be smiling come May.
