Under Klopp’s stewardship, the Liverpool stars that regularly steal the headlines are the usual suspects: Salah, Mane, van Dijk and Becker. They grab the attentions and adulation of the masses, completely merited and justified. The fabulous four are even touted for Ballon d’Or glory, especially their defensive juggernaut, Virgil van Dijk.
However, one player has bafflingly drifted under the radar of many football observers, bar the Liverpool faithful. Roberto Firmino once again proved his utmost worth and value to this exceptional Liverpool outfit with another stellar performance against a rejuvenated Arsenal side at Anfield.
Is he the best number 9 in world football? In my opinion, yes. To me, he’s Liverpool most integral attacking component that makes everything tick and click for his goal-bagging partners-in-crime Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. He just simplifies everything when Liverpool are attack mode with his guile, poise and boundless, seemingly limitless silky skills and creativity. Another superlative performance? Just the usual for Liverpool’s beloved attacking orchestrator.
