Mario Fantastico. Mario Magnifico…. Ole Ole, Ole Ole…….

This is what the Anfield faithful may be singing in the 2016/17 season, what a nightmare. Yes, NIGHTMARE!!

There are many things that will never make sense in football. Such as having a fifth official standing next to a goal, and contributing nothing to the game.

Or playing music after a team has scored a goal. Or — OR — even Everton having a trophy cabinet, but nothing could be more senseless than Mario Balotelli.

The only current possible thing you could say about Balotelli is that he is 25. TWENTY-FIVE. He has one league title, obtained a Champions League medal, and has a love-hate relationship with fireworks.

Once a hero…

Four years ago he was a hero in Italy, after breaking down Germany in the Euros.

Despite all that he is just 25, and should be ready to start hitting his peak as a professional footballer. Andrea Pirlo stated that he should stop wasting time, and he should show the world his ‘talent’ .

It’s a shame you didn’t mention this about three years ago, eh Pirlo!!

Brendan Rodgers (former Liverpool manager) was the man responsible for the signing of Super Mario in 2014.

“He knows his flaws and his faults and he is looking for someone to help him with it. Of course it is a risk, we are not going to say it isn’t, but he is a big talent.”

Talented, but not needed

To be fair, he did show glimpses of positivity when partnering Daniel Sturridge, and he does obtain a certain style that can be important when building a successful team.

However it looks like Balotelli will never put on a red shirt for Liverpool again, after Jürgen Klopp stated that he has no future at the club.

Even if Klopp banged his head and gave him another chance (which definitely will not happen, but let’s imagine) he would be last in the pecking order.

Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi, Danny Ings, and even Roberto Firmino would start ahead of him in that forward position.

Klopp feels that “there’s a team who would be pleased to have new Super Mario” – a version of the player with the temperament to match his talent.

Unfortunately, clubs who he has been linked with such as Besiktas have claimed that they aren’t interested in the forward.

Maybe a picture of him smoking might attract a few more clubs to sign him up..

An enigma

Mario is indifferent, lethargic and purely mental. But believe it or not, he still has class.

If someone would like to take of the frustrating task of getting that class out of Balotelli, then that would be great.

But please do it before the 31st of August. Cheers.
