It still surprises me to this day that some people don’t rate Daniel Sturridge highly.

Goal-scoring machine

It only took Daniel Sturridge 87 games to reach his 50th goal for Liverpool.

Sturridge has scored 44 goals in 67 premier league games for Liverpool, if that isn’t world class, I don’t know what is?

Last season, Daniel Sturridge had the third best minutes per goal ratio in the Premier League (122.4).

Injury setbacks

Daniel Sturridge is now 26 years old, one thing which may have stopped Sturridge being named one of the best is that he’s been hit by a lot of injuries which as disrupted his last 2 seasons.

In the 2015/16 season Sturridge only played 12 league games and 6 cup games, this is the main reason Sturridge isn’t considered a world class player and is very underrated by other fans/pundits.

Jurgen Klopp hasn’t been at Liverpool for a very long time and already it looks like Klopp knows how to handle Sturridge’s injuries.

Ensuring he maintains fitness is a must

If Liverpool can keep Daniel Sturridge fit for an whole season, then I think Sturridge can score 25+ goals, as he did back in the season 2013/14.

If Liverpool went on to win the Europa league final then Daniel Sturridge’s fantastic strike would have gone down in history and would have been spoke about, it was a top class goal from a top class player which got undermined by the second half performance from Liverpool.

To answer the question, yes Daniel Sturridge is important to Liverpool.
