REPORTS: Real Madrid eyeing move for Manchester City star

Raheem Sterling has set Real Madrid on red alert.

The in-form winger is stalling on a new contract at Manchester City, with the Spanish Giants keeping their ear very close to the ground should the English international become available.

TalkSport report that Madrid will revive interest in Sterling; they had been monitoring his situation while he was at Liverpool.

Currently rumoured to be on £180,000 a week, Pep Guardiola is seeking to convince Sterling to stay, saying this lately:

“We were clear when Arsenal wanted him we said, ‘No, that’s not going to happen’. He’s still young and we hope to make him happy so that he can stay for longer.”

The Verdict

This would be a sensational story were it to happen. Sterling has been revitalised under Guardiola and has accelerated his progression immensely under the tutelage of one of the world’s best coaches.

He is beginning to fulfil the potential he promised, and some.

Madrid are not wrong to be interested; City should be fearful of the allure of one of the world’s biggest clubs and do everything in their power to keep one of England’s brightest, and currently potent, talents.
