Manchester United and Chelsea are set to miss out on the ‘next Yaya Toure’.

20 year-old Franck Kessie has been dubbed this by the Italian media, who see the midfielder as the next big thing.

Roma in front of the queue

It seems Roma have pipped the Premier League giants to the signing of Kessie, and will offer Atalanta £25 million for his signature.

Kessie’s development had also been monitored by Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

The Ivorian is keen on joining Roma as it means staying in Italy and playing Champions League football next year.

Who is he?

Kessie is a regular for Serie A side Atalanta, making 16 appearances. He has scored 6 times for the Italian side, whilst creating 13 goal threatening chances.

His pass accuracy averages at around 83%; impressive for a combative, box to box central midfielder.

Indeed, stat website Squawka believe his average level of performance this season to be 4/5.

Unfortunately for the young midfielder, his side, Ivory Coast, crashed out of the African Cup of Nations – with two draws and no wins.
