Zlatan Ibrahimovic

The January transfer window has just commenced and clubs are already placing or looking into potential bids and sales.

While the market carries on, there are players who need to think about their futures. There are many players who will become free agents in 2016. Some of them players could be signing pre-contracts with other clubs during January transfer window.

Here are top 10 best players up for a free transfer in 2016.

1. Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Yes, Ibrahimovic is out of contract with PSG. After joining the Ligue 1 team in 2012, he has become the club’s highest goal scorer with 123 goals in all competitions.

The 34-year has no sign of slowing down and might reportedly re-join AC Milan at the end of his contact.

2. Branislav Ivanovic

Ivanovic is not at his best this season and might not get a contract extension. There are reportedly many clubs including Crystal Palace and Sunderland after the Serbian.

Getting him for free is a golden opportunity for struggling sides.

3. John Terry

Chelsea have lost almost half the games which was led by Chelsea skipper John Terry. It is understood that the management is not happy with the player.

He is speculated to join his former national side team mate Steven Gerrard at Major League Soccer.

4. Tomas Rosicky

The 35-year old has struggled with injuries at Arsenal. However, when he plays, he always shows moments of magic. There are reportedly many clubs from all over Europe after him to sign for free.

I personally would like him to stay in the Premier League.

5. Michael Carrick

Manchester United have not been performing up to expectations this season, but Carrick has been fine as ever. However, with Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin standing as Carrick’s competition, there is a very slim chance that he will stay another year.

He is rumored to be leaning towards retirement.

6. Hatem Ben Arfa

Ben Arfa has found his feet once more in Ligue 1 this season. He is an inconsistent player, but is worth the risk. He can provide every bit of magic should he land a good club in one of Europe’s top leagues.

Mid-table Premier League sides are reportedly interested in him.

7. Martin Demichelis

The Argentine defender had his contract extended last year, but apparently Manchester City don’t want him at the club any longer.

Having only played three games this season, Demichelis is expected to join an MLS club.

8. Ever Banega

The Argentine could be a free agent in 2016 despite being instrumental for Sevilla in La Liga. He has a clause in his contract that will automatically extend his contract by a year if he plays more than 30 games every season. He only has 15 so far.

He is linked with Juventus and Napoli.

9. Charlie Austin

Last season’s Premier League stand-out, Charlie Austin is also out of his contract.

There are reportedly several Premier League teams interested in his services as Austin is not expected to extend his stay at the Championship with Queens Park Rangers.

10. Andrea Brazagli

The Juventus defender has shown real consistency in his five years with the club. The 35-year old won the club’s Player of the Month award last October, but is expected to leave soon.

Juventus want him to stay, but he reportedly has his mind set on leaving.
