Sofiane Feghouli is undoubtedly one of the best free transfers in the Premier League for the upcoming season and the Algeria international needs no introduction.
Previously being heavily linked by both Europa League finalists Liverpool and Sevilla, West Ham United have now confirmed that they have signed the former Valencia wide man on a three year deal.
The 26 year old seems delighted with the move and when speaking to whufc.com, he said: “I am very happy to sign for the Hammers and for Slaven Bilic. The history of the club is important for me in my decision.”
Sofiane Feghouli will join the Hammers on a free transfer on 1st July and is set to become the 14th Algerian to play in the Premier League.
Manager Slaven Bilic too was very positive about the move and he said: “Feghouli’s a top player, a top winger. We got him for free and a great signing.”
West Ham United have made the most of this transfer window as they have already managed to sign two players on a free transfer, Havard Nordtveit from Borussia Monchengladbach and now Sofiane Feghouli from Valencia.
Creator with a good eye for goal
The Paris born winger replaced Juan Mata at the Mestalla Stadium back in 2010 and with six seasons spent in La Liga, he scored 42 goals and made 243 appearances. Sofiane also has created more chances from open play (148) than any other player for Valencia in the last five La Liga seasons.
Being awarded the 2012 Algerian Footballer of the Year, he has made 40 appearances for his national side and has managed to score 11 goals.
With the addition of this new charismatic player in the heart of midfield for West Ham, they are going to give absolutely no rest to the opposition and will keep coming with fine counter attacks as well as beautifully set up goals.
Mostly known as a player who plays in the opponent’s half, Feghouli also contributes fairly in defence and keeps possession by contributing the ball to each and every team mate.
Though he has spent a wonderful six years in La Liga with Valencia, Sofiane rather had a dull 2015-16 season as the playmaker only managed to score one goal.
Low-risk, worthy acquisition
Nevertheless, Slaven Bilic has been the tactician and has helped the underdogs to reach great heights. Feghouli came in on a free transfer, not much of a risk as the player offers lots of potential.
Dimitri Payet will be in sensational form as always and Feghouli looks to make no mistake with his ability to make key passes and keep 3 vital points coming in from every possible match.
