Robert Huth has been an outstanding performer in the heart of the Leicester City defence this season. The German has formed a formidable partnership with skipper Wes Morgan, and has been a huge reason behind the Foxes’ memorable campaign thus far.

Huth, who left Stamford Bride for Middlesbrough in 2009, has really found his feet at the King Power Stadium. The 31-year-old, who also had a six-year spell with Stoke City, has been another top performer in a Leicester team that has shocked the Premier League this season.

Crucial contribution

Huth’s 83rd minute winner on Wednesday – his first goal since signing on a permanent basis – earned Claudio Ranieri’s team a stunning 1-0 victory at fellow high-flyers Tottenham Hotspur. Leicester’s win at White Hart Lane just proved that they mean business this season, and have the capabilities of staying in the top four for the entire campaign.

The ex-Germany international’s English football career looked to be coming to an end when he become surplus to requirements at the Britannia Stadium just a year ago, only for Leicester City to revitalise his career by taking him on loan.

Ranieri turned his loan into a permanent deal in the summer, and Huth has repaid that faith in superb style.

Consistent and solid

The centre-back has been consistent all season, putting in some solid displays in the heart of the Foxes defence. Like I said, he’s struck up an excellent understanding with his defensive partner Morgan, as well as with Leicester’s goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

With only 17 Premier League games to go, not even the most ardent of Leicester fans could have envisioned the way their season was going to pan out, still, the Foxes faithful will be enjoying every minute and wishing it was never going to come to an end.
