Real Madrid will part ways with three of their biggest names in a bid to lure Harry Kane to the Bernabeu.
Diario Gol – you can read the translated English write up here – are reporting that Madrid are so intent on landing the English international that they are willing to swap Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Luka Modric for the striker.
Kane was recently shortlisted for the Ballon d’Or and is one of Europe’s hottest properties, scoring 15 goals in his last 10 appearances.
In light of their academy graduate’s staggering rise to one of the most potent strikers in the world, Spurs value Kane at around £180 million, suggest Diario Gol.
On the surface, this seems like an offer not be refused, yet Bale has failed to reach consistency and Benzema and Modric are both the wrong side of 30. Their quality remains, but for how long?
Benzema would, of course, materialise as a direct replacement for Kane; whilst Bale would inject world-class quality; and Modric would resume his play-making days at Spurs.
Yet, Spurs would be better suited rejecting this offer (if it comes) and if they are to sell, they should sell only for money, allowing Pochettino to bring in young players with years of potential – a Pochettino principle that has served Spurs very well thus far.
