West Ham are lining up a shock move for Samir Nasri, report TalkSport.
Talks with Joao Mario – the Hammers’ preferred choice – are purported to have stalled, with the London club seeking alternatives.
David Moyes has spoken of his desire to bring in another central midfielder, and Nasir has emerged as a potential target given his experience of playing in the Premier League with Manchester City and Arsenal.
The Frenchman currently plays in Turkey with Antalyaspor, but TalkSport suggest he would available for the right price.
Though the midfielder has been embroiled in various scandals – who can forget about his very public Twitter spat with his ex-girlfriend? – he still possesses a guile and creativity that West Ham could benefit from.
Nasri is a talented player, there is no doubt about that, but his industry and work-rate have often been questioned. With Moyes’ predicating his side around a notion of effort, should Nasri be brought, he will have to be integrated slowly, for his fitness will certainly not be up to Moyes’ high standard.
A few teething weeks though, and West Ham could find themselves with a dynamic and creative midfielder, capable of unlocking defences.
