Improve these 3 aspects and Arsenal would be GREAT again

Arsenal’s last away game saw them draw Watford at Vicarage road. Forcing a Watford team that had just named a new manager and were sitting rock bottom of the Premier League log. The Gunners had gone ahead twice in the first half.

In the second half of the encounter, the North Londoners capitulated and weren’t so convincing in the opening half either but the team was clinical thanks to the Gabon star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The chances of the striker that has been a revelation since signing for the Premier League side from Dortmund not scoring in a match for Arsenal are extremely slim.

The Spanish tactician should be concerned that he can’t organize his side to defend appropriately nor get them firing on all cylinders as they used to under French boss Arsene Wenger.

The Gunners allowed 96 shots against them in the Premier League so far this term and the most disturbing part is that they faced 18 of those shots at home when they played Burnley and the 31 versus Watford.

Enough said about the team’s bad numbers defensively this season. Let’s examine three important things the manager must reinforce his side on as the season progresses:

3-MAN DEFENCE

The signing of Brazil defender David Luiz sparked new hopes in the hearts of fans of the club, but recent errors by the former Chelsea man has cost the north London club 6 valuable points already this season. Playing a system that suits Luiz could go a long way in saving Arsenal’s season. The 3-man defense might just do the magic.

The error-prone defender was deployed in a ‘libero’ role in Conte’s 3-man defense when the Blues won the Premier League title in the 2017/18, and that suited the player’s abilities pretty well.

The manager has the players that perfectly play this system from defense to attack. Why not try something new when things are falling apart?

Ozil must play a huge role in this system

Players that are often seen as luxury players always find their way into a 3-man backline system, meaning players like Mesut Ozil has to play a pivotal role in this ‘special’ set up.

Paul Pogba played a similar role in the system while he was at Juventus, the same as Belgian Eden Hazard at Chelsea under Antonio Conte. Turn out to be one of the hazard’s best season in England. Pogba and Hazard are players with fantastic quality and they have to be closer to a goal like Arsenal star Mesut Ozil.

Forwards must assist in defending

The boss must get all his players including attackers to work better defensively. The idea must me mass defense and mass attack.

The whole squad must always track back to defend and the attackers have to be the first line of defense.
