EPL Predictions: Toiling Chelsea to succumb to crisis-stricken West Ham?

Arsenal v Southampton (Prediction 3-0)

Arsenal have won their last two league matches by three goals to nil and Southampton have lost their last two by the same scoreline.

The Saints lost 3-0 away at West Ham in Mark Hughes’ first league game in charge and they’ll be eager to get three points on the board to help get out of the relegation battle as soon as possible.

Arsenal are scoring for fun lately though and I think Southampton may have to wait for another day, which is difficult to say given they face Chelsea next weekend, but they do have home advantage in that one!

Chelsea v West Ham (Prediction 1-2)

West Ham won the reverse fixture earlier in the season, an early goal from Marko Arnautovic was enough as the Hammers successfully held the lead and won 1-0.

But that was at the London Stadium and West Ham haven’t beaten Chelsea at Stamford Bridge since September 2002, a 3-2-win starring goals from Jermain Defoe and Paolo Di Canio.

Funnily enough, West Ham did the league double over Chelsea that season, the scoreline of the Upton Park game? Yep, 1-0 to West Ham. Could history repeat itself?

Chelsea football club is an entirely different entity in today’s world though, after Roman Abramovich bought the club and has invested a lot of time and money into the Blues over the past fifteen years.

Chelsea have once again put up a very poor defence of the Premier League title and approach this game in poor form. Five losses in their last seven games is just not good enough and the loss to Spurs last weekend kissed their top four hopes goodbye.

I’m going for a West Ham win with both sides scoring.
