“Better than Auba and Batshuayi” Chelsea fans react to Giroud’s display

Since the close of the transfer windows which saw a merry go round happen among Arsenal, Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund, it has been all fun watching how the players fared at the three clubs.

Arsenal had to pay over £55m to get Pierre Emerick Aubameyang from Dortmund, but the Bundesliga side only allow the deal to be completed when they got a replacement in Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi and the current Premier League champions also delayed that deal until they got Batshuayi’s replacement in Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud for around £18m.

This is one of the deals that will forever be remembered in the history of the January transfer window. So after the deal, it now time to see how the players are faring at their respective new clubs.

On Aubameyang’s debut, he got a goal for Arsenal in a 5-1 thumping of Everton, while Batshuayi got a brace for Dortmund against Cologne however Giroud lost on his debut against Bournemouth. He has however bounced back, scoring in their game against West Brom and assisting a goal in that match. In total, he has had a hand in three goals since joining the Blues.

This has made Chelsea fans around the world on social media believe they got the best deal among the three clubs.

He looks a different striker to what they currently have in Alvaro Morata and also his style is what most clubs crave for, a player that can play the ball on the ground and also very good in the air. The 31-year-old has a commanding presence both aerially and on the ground.

This gives Antonio Conte a very good option upfront to change his playing style, which has in the past forced him to play Eden Hazard as a false 9 but now he can call upon Giroud.
