Tottenham have stepped up their pursuit of highly-sought after Schalke defender Sead Kolasinac.
According to TalkSport, Spurs are willing to offer him a considerable pay-rise.
The Bundesliga star is out of contract in the summer, and is being pursued by several clubs.
The Bosnian is set to have a suit of elite level admirers: Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid are all purported to be interested.
First blood
However, Spurs have acted first.
They have offered the 23 year-old a salary that would earn him £5 million a year.
Schalke, in a bid to keep him at the club, have offered him a contract of around £3.8 million a year.
Yet, the Bosnian might find the lure of Premier League football and the sizeable increase too much.
In need of defensive reinforcements
Mauricio Pochettino desperately needs defensive reinforcements if he is to mount an assault on next year’s title; injuries to his back-line have derailed his team’s chances this year and he will be intent on not allowing this to happen again.
