Telling your nephew they lost,
They lost to West Ham of all teams.
I didn’t want to ruin his hopes,
His dreams, his unrequited love, his aspirations
And his undying support for the team
But to lose to West Ham, really?
I didn’t want to brag or nothing.
He’s so young, he’ll learn about the game.
He’ll learn it’s not the hype or the fame.
It’s skill, its discipline, its timing
And this one particular match
West Ham won the day, but really?
It’s a shame to spoil and ruin
But it was just what he needed.
He’s had told me his team’s league position.
Rubbish! What does it matter now?
They won with the most goals.
They really played the game well.
