The Gunners are looking for a new striker this summer. Will they chose a man who famously shot them down on Instagram last summer?

After so long at Real Madrid, Karim Benzema will likely see moving to Arsenal as a step down.

It seems that the only way this might happen is if Los Blancos sign a player such as Robert Lewandowski to push him out the door. With Zidane as head of Madrid this is very unlikely to happen though.

Also, signing the Japanese Asano is most likely not the answer either.

The Gunners have already unsuccessfully tried to get Leicester City big shot Jamie Vardy to the Emirates, trying to lure him in with a £20 million release clause only to discover him signing a new contract with the Foxes.

Reassessing choices

The Gunners will probably need to reassess their choices and decide whether to go for another striker as they hope to gain Premier League title fame. The answer as to who they bid for is still a mystery.

However, two players stand out as they make this decision. Aubameyang and Lacazette stand out as two very good options and there are reasons why this is so.

Aubameyang

Aubameyang is lightning quick and is stellar when in shooting range of the opposition’s goal.

He is probably everything Arsenal could want. The 58 mil they are offering seems at the moment as if it could whisk him away from Westfalenstadion. He would be a huge signing.

The one stumbling block is that the Gabonese star has his focus set on a transfer to Spain at some point in his career. His own mother is from El Barraco, which is not too far from Madrid.

Despite this fact, he tried to give Arsenal encouragement by saying there has been ‘too much noise’ regarding a possible move to Real Madrid.

Thus far Aubameyang has been stellar this season scoring 21 goals in 24 appearances for the Bundesliga club. He decided to remain by Thomas Tuchel’s side in the summer despite interest from many Premier League giants, including that of Manchester City.

The Gabon international has been in scintillating form this season. Although he has dreams of playing for Madrid, he doesn’t see it as his final conclusion.

He is a pacy striker. And Arsenal has shown been eyeing him before his move to Dortmund from St Etienne four years ago.

“Since this time he has scored 70 goals in 96 Bundesliga appearances”, according to MetroSport.

Lacazette

“Lacazette won’t be an easy target either with Jose Mourinho keen to bring him to Manchester United. But Nicholas believes Arsenal must do all they can to try and win their signatures if they want to compete for the title next season,” according to Dan Gibbs. (2)

Arsenal must find a new top midfield player with Santi Cazorla gone. Raphael Varane or Virgil van Dijk would be amazing at centre-back and Alexandre Lacazette is the striker to be wanted.

Hopefully, the Atletico Madrid transfer ban means that Arsenal has got a chance.

Lacazette (Lyon) who has a huge tally of 48 goals in 67 games. Many clubs have shown admiration and praise to the French striker already. The Gunners are among them. Could he score Arsenal 20 goals next season in the Premier League?

The club in top position for the Frenchman’s signature

Arsenal are in the top position to sign Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette.

They have been firming up their interest in the Frenchman. Arsenal had one bid – rumoured to be £28.5m –  for Lacazette rejected last summer. Lyon was rumored to be angered by the ridiculously small nature of the offer.

The 26-year-old has decided to join Atletico Madrid this summer. However, “he saw his dreams end when the La Liga giants had their transfer ban upheld until 2018”, according to a MetroSport Reporter.

Lyon is still realistic about the chances of keeping the academy product in France. However, they now value him at £60m. This is a huge leap from last summer.

However, Arsenal is not finding it the right time to barter at the moment and Arsene Wenger would like to add to his team as fast as ever to next term hit the ground running.

They are leading the race for Lacazette due to expressing the most interest in the Frenchman.

Lacazette brought on rumours that he was moving to the Emirates in the beginning of the month due to stating he was happy to play in the Europa League next term.

This was a stark change “in tactic from the forward, who had maintained he would only leave Lyon for a Champions League club before Atletico’s ban was upheld,” according to a MetroSport reporter.

Either option

Who Arsenal chooses to be striker will determine next season in the Premier League. Both Aubameyang and Lacazette seem to be good options with pros and cons to each of these players.

It is a tough call as to who will be a better fit for Arsenal. Both players have amazing stats and abilities.

I think we will just have to wait for Arsenal’s decision to determine if they made the right call.
