Hakan Calhanoglu is firmly set upon joining Chelsea this summer.

He told Turkish media outlets that “God willing, I will be a Chelsea player next season.”

Calhanoglu has been imprinted into the consciousness of FIFA players for his deadly free-kicks; but, it seems, he is much more than a guaranteed goal on this widely popular video game.

He started this season in superb form, scoring 6 times in 14 appearances for his team Bayer Leverkusen.

The Turkish midfielder is just 22 years old, but has racked up a wealth of experience at the top level.

Suspension

However, he is currently serving a four month ban due to a sticky contract situation between Trabzonspor and the midfielder’s former club Karlsruher.

He had signed a contract with Trabzonspor, but decided against moving and instead signed an extension with Karlsruher, before moving to German club Hamburg in 2013.

Evidently, this is illegal and FIFA have punished the midfielder.

Good signing?

Calhanoglu will add even more firepower to a potent Chelsea attack and would be a shrewd signing given Chelsea’s involvement in next year’s Champions League where Antoine Conte will be faced with balancing a title challenge and European involvement.
