Recent speculation suggest that Liverpool are keen on signing Napoli frontman Lorenzo Insigne with the Naples outfit not willing to meet Insigne’s demands regarding a contract renewal.
Napoli’s owner, Aurelio De Laurentiis is evidently not ready to meet Insigne’s £100,000-a-week demands hence paving the way for the Reds to swoop in and acquire the Italy international.
With Daniel Sturridge performing below expectations this season, Jurgen Klopp could make an attempt to snap up Insigne in the winter window in a bid to bolster Liverpool’s options in the attacking third.
Highly-valued
The German gaffer has utilised Roberto Firmino as a false 9 thus far but it’s fair to say the Brazilian would be better suited playing as a winger or being deployed behind the striker.
Insigne, 25, is currently valued at £44 milllion but Napoli will have to accept a bid far off from their valuation of Insigne in order to facilitate the transfer.
Insigne bagged 12 goals in 32 Serie A appearances for Mauricio Sarri’s side last season which is more or less a decent tally for any striker but certainly not the sort of numbers Liverpool would want him to hit at Anfield.
Versatile
Despite being a natural centre-forward, Insigne is capable of playing on either flank as well as an attacking midfielder.
His versatility is a huge selling point but surely his mesmerising skills and immense technical proficiency is what caught Klopp’s eye.
It’s too soon to say whether Insigne would make the switch in January, but if his wage hike demands are not met he’s almost certain to leave Napoli.
