According to the Daily Mirror, Southampton are considering launching a bid worth £17 million to sign Napoli forward Manolo Gabbiadini.

As reported by the Mirror:

“Puel believes Gabbiadini can answer Saints’ striker crisis after seeing top-scorer Charlie Austin ruled out for several months by a dislocated shoulder.

In Austin’s absence, Saints have lost three Premier League games in a row for the first time in three years, scoring only two goals in the process.

Italy international Gabbiadini has previously been scouted by Everton, while Puel also faces competition from German giants Wolfsburg — who just sold forward Julian Draxler to Paris Saint-Germain for £34m.

Summer appointment Puel had previously stated he would not be looking to bolster his front-line during the winter window, but his stance is believed to have changed following this dismal run of form.”
