The Citizens are keen to add to their striking options, as a likely departure of Wilfried Bony would leave just Sergio Aguero and Kelechi Iheanacho.

French-born Gabon International Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is thought to be valued at £60 million by the Bundesliga giants and was in fact the Bundesliga player of the season last term scoring an impressive 25 goals in 29 league games.

His impressive ratio of a more than a goal every other game would be just what City need and someone to take the pressure off Argentine star Sergio Aguero.

Aubameyang has done it in France and has also done very well in Germany.

Qualities

It’s said he is now keen to test himself in England and with his obvious qualities you would expect him to fit comfortably to life in the Premier League.

The striker has two good feet, is strong, quick and powerful. He is also deadly in front of goal so would clearly be a massive asset for Pep Guardiola.

The new City manager will be keen to hit the ground running and will want to stamp his own style on the Manchester club and will be keen to add some new players so City can improve on last year’s fourth place finish.

Stumbling block

Overall, it wasn’t a bad campaign for the Blues who won the Capital One Cup and reached the last four of the Champions League. The fourth place finish in the league though was a disappointment from a season that started so well with City winning their first five league games.

The only stumbling block seems to be the players valuation as initial reports seem to be City don’t value the 26 year old to be £60 million, but are very keen to take the player so are hopeful of persuading the German side to lower their asking price slightly.

City must move quickly to grab their second Dortmund player of the summer after the capture of Gundogan, as it’s thought neighbours Manchester United are also keen on Aubameyang.
